JJT met periodically with Eric Hamp on the University of Chicago campus, mostly during the school year from January 2003 through May 2005. Their interviews covered a wide range of topics, but centered mostly on his field research (and that of others) into Arvanitika and Arbëresh.

Yucatán Maya; Yucatec Maya dialect survey (State of Quintana Roo) (1963)

Norman McQuown, then resident in the State of Quintana Roo, collaborates with Robert Blair in gathering examples of "authentic speech" from native speakers (male and female). Although the speakers come from a variety of places (including the State of Campeche), the interviews appear to have taken place exclusively in Quintana Roo.
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tape is the original field recording. The transcriptions have been scanned, and the WAVE file has been converted to an MP3.

Researcher gathered these video and sound recordings of a nearly extinct Aborigine language in the Northern Territory of Australia (date?).

Dataset consists of video and sound files (along with metadata) downloaded from a Box account set up by the researcher, Dorothea Hoffmann in July 2018. (The DMA is storing these materials at the behest of Hoffmann; further analysis and processing is pending.--JJT, 7/10/18)

Quiche Maya texts on aluminum discs: Chichicastenango (Andrade, c. 1933)

Andrade elicits phonetic data from a native speaker (male) in the Department of Quiché, Guatemala.
Collection Technical Notes: 
Phonograph records are the original, needle-cut aluminum discs. (The blank 8-inch discs were from the Fairchild Aerial Camera Corporation (New York).) John E. Wahl dubbed these discs onto tape in 1967.

K’iche’ dialect survey; Quiche dialect survey: Supplemental tapes

Collection Descriptive Notes: 
A variety of consultants (male and female) from the wide Quiché-speaking area of Guatemala converse or, alternately, answer the questions of interviewers, who are not either Stanley Wick nor Remigio Cochojil-Gonzalez.
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tapes are excerpts from numerous field recordings made using the facilities of the Instituto Biblico Quiché. (Each tape box has a paper label glued to the back of it, reading "PROGRAMA RADIAL pertenece al INSTITUTO BIBLICO QUICHE EN DIALECTO QUICHE". From the sound of a tape recorder being clicked into "play", it would appear that the technician played the tapes all the while he picked up the sound via a microphone placed in front of the speaker. It is not known when these recordings were sent to the Language Lab, but the fact that McQuown added them to the other survey tapes (q.v.) points to c. 1965 as the time. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
