Collection Descriptive Notes: 
Interviews consist of narratives (in both Gaelic and English), conversations and elicited vocabulary. The locales visited are: Inverkirkaig, Tongue, Strathy, Portskerra, Farr, Melness, Scourie and Durness.
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tapes are the original field recordings on five-inch reels donated to the LLA by Eric Hamp. Mrs. Margot Hamp operated the (Magnemite) tape recorder. For digitizing purposes, the central track was read by Tracks 2 and 3 of the quarter-track TEAC A-3440 tape recorder. The recordings are marred by persistent crackles. After the digitizing, most of the tapes were transferred to new reels. The WAVE files have now been converted to MP3s.

Hamp, using English as the medium of communication, resumes his evocation of the Gaelic equivalents of English tokens from Lachie MacDonald, a native of St. Kilda. A young American woman (unnamed) assists Mr. Hamp with the recording.
Collection Technical Notes: 
The original series of field-recorded cassette tapes consisted of five C100s, of which three (III-V) remain in the Archive. (Nos. I and II were returned to Mr. Hamp.) Note that in the coding of the WAVE files Arabic numerals (i.e., "1" and "2") designate the copies and Roman numerals (III-V) designate the originals. The WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
