Collection Descriptive Notes:
Andrade, speaking Spanish, puts words and phrases to Margarita Herrera (of Aguacatán, Department of Huehuetenango, Guatemala), who supplies the Awakateko equivalents. She also adds passages of fluent speech. (Note: In McQuown's usage a "text" is any discrete unit of speech.)
Collection Technical Notes:
The original recordings are five 10-inch, 78 rpm, needle-cut aluminum discs made in Guatemala, and they are accompanied by a tape dub of all the discs made by Donald H. Ledin at the Language Laboratory c. 1979. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s, and the transcription is scanned.
