Exercises 1-16; Tests 1-6. The exercises consist entirely of the pronunciation of minimal pairs with a pause for repetition. A tone on the left channel marks one or the other of the tokens. (It appears that a man speaking American English joined the speakers in the studio and supervised them.)
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tapes were recorded in the studio of the Language Lab in June-July 1963; John E. Wahl and Donald H. Ledin, rec. engs. (The identity of the recording engineers is based on the handwriting on the back of the boxes.) Each tape was edited (by Wahl?, by Ledin?) to eliminate false starts, errors, etc. (Unreviewed) WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.

With the exceptions of the first studio master and Drill 19 (recorded by author C.M. Naim), co-author Q.S. Ahmad voices all the drills from Phonetic Drills No. 4 through 18. (The dittoed script apparently used for the recording (q.v.) corresponds to pp. 11-40 of Volume I of Naim’s Introductory Urdu (first edition?)). (Note: Introductory Urdu Reader appears to be the full title of the two-volume set.)
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tapes are the (10) original studio recordings made at the Language Laboratory in 1965. The authors divided the drills among a series of twenty-two "tapes" (apparently meant to constitute as many class lessons). To avoid confusion in nomenclature, JJT has labelled the studio tapes as such and used the numbers 1-10 to encode the WAVE files; e.g., 7-1, 7-2, 7-3 (=studio master seven with bands 1-3). WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
