While in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico, McQuown and another American, speaking English, interview a native speaker of Black Carib from Stann Creek, Belize (formerly British Honduras), on December 15, 1963.
Collection Technical Notes: 
The box the tape is in bears the green sticker that characterizes the Maya "authentic speech series", which was recorded at the same time as this tape.

Collection Descriptive Notes: 
Native speaker (male) recites two dialogues in Black Carib; then he explains how certain English expressions are rendered in Black Carib. (The mention of "Ernesto Noyes" in the first dialogue confirms his connection with the recording.)
Collection Technical Notes: 
Recording fills both sides of a (needle-cut?) disc of the "Audiodisc" brand. The only notations on the disc are "1-1" and "1-2", indicating that it is one of a two-disc set (cf. the disc barcoded as "A7003905Y"). WAVE file is now converted to an MP3.
