Co-author Mythili Haq voices: Pronunciation Drills; Units 1-4; 6-11 ("incorporating materials from both the Beginning Tamil book and A First Reader in Tamil "--from the back of the Tape 1 box. Tape was recorded using the "written" and "spoken" variants of the “Brahmin” dialect. Note: The speaker introduces each lesson with the title "Introductory Tamil".
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tapes were recorded at the Language Laboratory studio in May-June 1965. The series is only partially edited. The rest of the lessons were recorded at the University of Wisconsin (q.v.) with the numbering resuming with "Unit 11" though it is NOT the same lesson as the Unit 11 in this collection. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.

Co-author Mythili Haq voices Units 11-21, continuing the series begun at Chicago (q.v.). She uses both the "spoken" and "written" styles in her readings. These are "recordings made at the University of Wisconsin in July 1965 by Mythili Haq as an expansion of the Beginning Tamil course by Ramanujan" [These recordings are based, however, on a pilot version of A First Reader in Tamil, read in both written and spoken Brahmin.]"--from the back of the Reel 17 box
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tapes are the copies sent from the University of Wisconsin; transferred from the original seven-inch reels to hubs by JJT in July 1976. Note: the slate on the tapes says “Introductory Tamil”. Note also: the Unit 11 recorded here differs in content from the Unit 11 of the Chicago series. For further information consult the letter from Wisconsin in the folder "Tamil (Wisconsin)" in JJT's desk. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
