Collection Descriptive Notes:
Francisco Santizo Andrés (from San Mateo Ixtatlán) and two men (from Yuxquén, Nentón (in Guatemala) are filmed in an outdoor courtyard in Huehuetenango, and their voices are simultaneously recorded on audio tape. (It is not clear how much of the films correspond to the audio recordings.)
Collection Technical Notes:
Tape is probably the original field recording, which consists of two "takes".The intermittent banging noises heard on the tape were apparently made in order to sync the sound with the films. Note: The films themselves now reside at the Logan Arts Center. On the G-Drive (B/C D7000732W) there are two (partially?) converted video files coded as: "chuj-maya-87-1_H264.mp4" and "chuj-maya-87-2_H264.mp4". Note also: according to Ethnologue, the language code "cac" applies to the dialect of Ixtatán. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
