Collection Descriptive Notes:
The recordings divide into two parts: Tapes 1-4 and 5-12. On Tapes 1-4 an American English speaker (male ) introduces the lessons, which are voiced by two (male) native speakers. On Tapes 5-12 (with one exception) a female speaker introduces the lessons, which are voiced by just one native speaker (male). Inasmuch as the latter set of tapes was done c. 1980, the edition of the text used here is probably the one published originally by the University of Washington Press in 1970.)
Collection Technical Notes:
Tapes are the cassettes shipped from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in December 1987 and donated to the LLA on 3/31/89 by Matthew Kapstein. Note: Side 2 of Tape 2 is blank (apparently an error on the part of U.W.’s language lab). WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
