An American man reads the English tokens of Units 1-12, and a native German speaker (male) supplies the German equivalents.
Collection Technical Notes:
Phonograph records are the set issued by the Linguistics Society of America for the Armed Forces in 1944-45. The discs were dubbed onto tape c. 1960 (See ID#1633.) Note: The digital copies (q.v.)have been made from the tapes (rather than the discs) inasmuch as present equipment does not "read" the discs as well as that in the Old Lab.
The Märchen: “Frau Holle”, “Der Bauer und der Teufel” and “Die Sterntaler”; The Sagen: “Frau Hitt”, “Kaiser Max in der Martinswand” and “Die Entstehung der Marmolata”
Prof. Theodor Siebs, identified in the text as "Geheimrat Dr. Siebs, Professor of Phonetics, University of Breslau", voices the German vowels, diphthongs and consonants.
Collection Technical Notes:
Phonograph record is the 10-inch, 78 rpm, monophonic lacquer Linguaphone disc, cat nos. GS.1.EA and GS.2.E. A text was found in the record sleeve. WAV file is now converted to an MP3.
