Collection Descriptive Notes:
Al-Husari chants the entire Qur’an. At the beginning of each disc another man introduces the recording and gives the titles of the suras about to be chanted. The recordings were issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Cultural Properties in 1960.
Collection Technical Notes:
Phonograph records originally consisted of a set of 44 discs, of which Nos. 1, 36 and 37 are missing. The (41) records lent to the LLA by the Library in 1970 were returned to Regenstein on 11 June 2015. (Note: Regenstein's complete set of Qur'an discs Is NOT identical to the set lent to the LLA.) Regenstein Discs 1, 2, 36 and 37 have been digitized to replace the missing (or damaged) discs in the DMA collection. (Unreviewed) WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
