Collection Descriptive Notes
Norman McQuown voices all the phonetic exercises from Lessons 1-7 (through Lesson 7, Recognition Drill U). (The text he used may have been a preliminary edition of Eunice V. Pike's Dictation Exercises in Phonetics (Glendale, CA: Summer Institute of Linguistics, 1946.) Note: The "Supplementary Material in Cree”, which is not in the 1946 text, has been added after Lesson 4; also, the arrangement of drills in Lesson 5 deviates from 1946 text.
Collection Technical Notes
Tapes are preservation copies made in 1976 from the 7.5 ips, half-track, live recordings made in the Old Lab c. 1957. (Note: The original recordings have been discarded.) WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
