Chief Sundown acts as “speaker” for the two dancers; i.e., the George brothers in
recordings of Seneca Thanksgiving rituals, made in August 1959 at the Tonawanda Seneca Reservation in Western New York state by Wallace L. Chafe. The tapes form the basis of and illustrate the monograph, Seneca Thanksgiving Rituals, by Chafe (1961), Texts 1-6.1.

Masters were dubbed from the 3.75 ips, half-track copies sent from UC-Berkeley and lent to the LLA by Mary Druke; JJT, rec. eng., Feb. 1976. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
