Mam exercises (Greenberg, San Juan Ostuncalco, 1978)

Collection Descriptive Notes: 
Linda Greenberg made these recordings in the town of San Juan Ostuncalco, Guatemala, in 1978. The materials consist of comprehension drills (i.e., conversations) as well as drills on grammar and pronunciation.
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tapes are dubs made from the field-recorded cassettes, which were lent to the LLA by Greenberg in 1978. Greenberg also lent to the LLA her notebooks with transcriptions of the recordings on Cassettes 1A/1B and 2A/2B, which were photocopied, then scanned (q.v.). WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.

Ojibwa interviews with Billy Red Cloud (Hamp, 1975)

Collection Descriptive Notes: 
Eric P. Hamp and others (including Leigh H. Coen?) conduct interviews with an Ojibwa consultant from Minnesota on the University of Chicago campus in February 1975.
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tapes are dubs from the original recordings on C-120 cassettes lent to the LLA by Leigh H. Coen. These were apparently recorded by Coen during weekly seminars on campus. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.

An unidentified American woman evokes vocabulary items in Sora and Juray. Later, the Juray speaker tells a story.
Collection Technical Notes: 
This tape (in a steel 8mm film can) was donated to the LLA by Norman Zide in 2000. It is now correctly classified as Sora and Juray. WAVE file is now converted to an MP3.

A man speaking English with an Indian accent introduces a singer; a flute solo and drumming follow the song.
Collection Technical Notes: 
This tape was donated to the LLA by Norman Zide in 2000: it was only through a study of the "Gutob" collection that JJT determined that this is NOT Gutob but Mundari. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.

Professional actors and actresses recreate acts and scenes from the best known Norwegian plays. Recordings were made at The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, Oslo.

Two native speakers recite this collection of poems by Mickiewicƶ.

Tapes were dubbed in the Language Lab c. 1963 from Polish phonograph records, Muza-Nagrania L0051 a-b and L0052 a-b. On analogy with the other Polish literary discs, these were done at the behest of "Prof. Kuncevicz". (This is almost certainly Mrs. Maria Kuncewicz, a visiting professor in the the Slavic Department.)
