An unnamed man interviews McDavid about the study of American English dialectology. [Only Parts 2 and 4 appear to have been saved.]
Collection Technical Notes: 
The recordings, actually labelled “Linguistic Society”, appear to be an interview for a radio show made c. 1980. "Windhover, Inc." may refer to the literary magazine of North Carolina State University. The tapes probably came to the LLA as part of the McDavid legacy.--JJT. The WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.

Collection Technical Notes: 
Tape is apparently the original field recording. The notes of N.A. McQuown indicate that Douglas Taylor is the donor of the tape. (Unreviewed) WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.

Linguistic Atlas of the Gulf State: samples from five or six consutants

Both a male and a female interviewer elicit examples of speech from six (?) consultants from Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. (These are not the complete interviews but excerpts made by Pederson (?) probably at the behest of Raven McDavid.)
Collection Technical Notes: 
Tape is a compilation of excerpts from the complete interviews. JJT recalls that a colleague sent McDavid this tape, which he donated it to the LLA c. 1977. (The handwriting on the back of the box is that of Raven McDavid.) Note: This compilation overlaps--but does not duplicate--the tape titled "Excerpt from five Gulf States interviews" (q.v.). The WAVE file is now converted to an MP3.
