Collection Descriptive Notes:
E.P. Hamp, speaking Macedonian, evokes Gheg equivalents of the Macedonian tokens from two male consultants: 1) in the town of Vrben (on Tape 1 only) and 2) in the town of Tetovo (on all the other tapes). As his basic text, EPH uses Lunt’s A Grammar of the Macedonian Literary Language (Skopje,1952). (This dialect is of interest as the easternmost Gheg dialect.)
Collection Technical Notes:
These tapes are the original field recordings, which were recorded over eleven of the Moustsos questionnaire tapes (the series ALB 82.AAQ) in July-September 1961. Mrs. Margot Hamp operated the tape recorder, which may have been a Butoba. Norman McQuown was the one who assigned the shelf codes to the tapes. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
