Collection Descriptive Notes:
Using the 1961 version of Dimock et al.'s Introduction to Bengali, the speakers follow the format of that book: the Saturation Drills followed by other drills. (In one lesson the English speaker makes reference to the "mimeographed version" of the text.) This series does not appear to be complete.
Collection Technical Notes:
The origin of these tapes is unknown but the various recordings (studio? field?) appear to have been done before the Language Lab studio recordings of the early '60s based on the 1964 version of the text. Note: The numbers inside brackets on the spine of the tape boxes were assigned arbitrarily to nine of the tapes by JJT, pending a review and re-arrangement. COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW IS MANDATORY. For now the WAVE files are converted to MP3s.
