Collection Descriptive Notes:
Norman Zide collected these linguistic samples in Maharashtra State (?) in June 1958. (The language in question belongs to the North Munda family and is spoken in southern Madhya Pradesh and northern Maharashtra.)
Collection Technical Notes:
These tapes were donated to the LLA by Norman H. Zide on February 2, 2000. The handwriting on each of the boxes may be that of Zide. Note: The reference to "Melghat" on the back of the Tape 5 box would seem to place the location of the recording in Maharashtra. It is not clear who assigned the present numbering of the tapes. Furthermore, the number "8" on tape "Korku [4]" suggests that more tapes once existed, but five is all the DMA was given. Note: JJT has chosen to add the barcode of each tape to the code of the digitized files in order to avoid any more confusion as to which tape is which. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
