Master is a dub from the 3.75 ips, half-track publisher's tapes, lent to the LLA by Robert Hummel; JJT, rec. eng., c. 1979. This edition of the text is referenced separately in this catalog.
An American man reads the English tokens of Units 1-12, and a native German speaker (male) supplies the German equivalents. (The text, to be found in Regenstein Library, was published in 1945 by the Linguistic Society of America).
Collection Technical Notes:
Tapes were almost certainly dubbed (in the Old Lab c. 1960) from the set of records now in the DMA collection. (Henry Holt and Company re-released the U.S.A.F.I. discs and text after WW II--hence the title "Holt German" on the tape boxes.) Note: The digital copies have been made from the tapes (rather than the discs) inasmuch as present equipment does not "read" the discs as well as that in the Old Lab. The WAVE files are converted to MP3s.
