Collection Descriptive Notes:
“A linguistic record of Jabo, a language of an eastern Liberian group, recorded by Charles Blooah” (a slate from one of the recordings). Note: Ethnologue puts this language/dialect into the Grebo macrolanguage "grb".
Collection Technical Notes:
Records are nine 10-inch, needle-cut aluminum discs in paper sleeves (date of production unknown). (Inasmuch as these one-of-a-kind discs reside in the DMA, they were probably recorded at the University--and not in the field.) In 1979 Donald H. Ledin transcribed the discs onto tape. (His slates were recorded on the right track only.) Note: the recordings are marred by frequent interruptions occasioned by needle damage. Also note: the tape has been used for digitizing inasmuch as current DMA equipment will not yield playback as good as Ledin's. WAVE file is now converted to an MP3.
