Content description Pederson interviews Mrs. Annie Mae Sapho on 1 July 1964. He describes her as a “Chicago born Negro”, aged 30. (She is assigned the code “#17”.) Pederson interviews Mead Birchette on 8 July 1964. Aged 39 and a native of Virginia, Birchette is described on the box as “...a very good example (the best we have) of cultivated southern speech modified by almost 20 yrs. in Chicago.” (He is assigned the code “#27”.)
