Content description | Contents: Track 1: “in chinchicʼbameʼ ” [?] Eleuterio Gómez 5. tsiybil-txtalbil Dios ‘ax " 8. ʼEtman - Alejandro Jimenez (dead) Track 2: [a] Dottie Miller Peck (Mrs. H. Dudley Peck), apparently speaking in 1957, addresses her Wellesley class of 1918. At the end she introduces a passage spoken by Gomez, a former witch doctor. [It is not clear how a recording from 1957 got on this tape.] [b] Gomez speaks about his experience as a witch doctor (the date is apparently 2 October 1953). [Note: The notations on the back of the box are difficult to understand. Two different speakers are heard on "Track 1", and the word "chinchicbame' " is heard at the beginning. These must be the recordings of Sept. 28 & 29, 1953. Dorothy Peck's voice opens Track 2, and she appears to be introducing the recording that follows (a dub?). The track concludes with a Gomez narrative that sounds like a live recording (of Oct. 2?).] |
