Linguistic...Oklahoma (Van Riper): 14 of 15

Content description Subject is interviewed in Roosevelt, Kiowa County, in 1961. (The voice of Mr. Reid's wife is also heard on the tape.) This is the second of the Library of Congress tapes of the interview. Note: Mr. Reid's first name is written as "Olin" on the back of the box.
Object Type PhysicalObject
Medium 1/4 inch audio tape
Contributor Reid, Oaln (consultant); Van Riper, William R. (interviewer)
Notes Raven McDavid uses check marks (without a date, which is probably June 1984) to indicate that he completed the phonetic transcription of the tape. Note: The original "Tape 2" (i.e., Van Riper's second field recording) was recorded at 7.5 ips, but copied by the L. of C. at 3.75 ips. So, the latter part of Track 1 and all of Track 2 run at half-speed when played back at 3.75 ips except for the last few minutes of Track 2 when Van Riper discovered his error and reverted to the 3.75 ips speed. JJT has made corrected versions of these parts: eng-okla-14.a-rev (and) eng-okla-14.b-rev. USE ONLY THESE REVISED VERSIONS FOR FURTHER PURPOSES.
