Track 1: 1) Hamp introduces: “The following is a recording made in the
Isle of Colonsay in Scalasaig on the thirtieth of July 1958 of
Miss Annabella MacNeil [Gaelic words] and her sister-in-law,
Mrs. Gilbert MacNeil, speaking.”
2) About 1.5 minutes into the track Hamp introduces a new
speaker: “The following is a recording made in the Isle of Jura
at Craig House by Mr. Malcolm MacArthur [sp.?], speaking,
on the fourth of August 1958.”
3) A subsequent conversation is followed by Hamp’s
identification: “That was a conversation between Mr. Malcolm
MacArthur [sp.?] and Mrs. Donald Bowie of Craig House.”
4) Hamp appears again: “The following is a recording made at
Eilann Abaig [sp.?], Eesdal [sp.?], on the ninth of August
1958. The speaker is Mr. William Dewar.”
Track 2: 1) Hamp introduces: “The following was recorded on the twenty-
fourth of July 1958 in Port Ellen, Islay. The speakers are Mr.
Duncan Heads and his mother, Mrs. Heads.”
2) Two minutes into the track Hamp introduces a new speaker:
“The following is a recording by Miss Marian Heads relating a
local incident.”
3) At the 3.5-minute mark Hamp says: “The following
conversation was recorded on the twenty-fourth of July 1958
between Miss Esther MacDougall [sp.?] and her brother
Donald MacDougall [sp.?] at Heather Houses, Port Askaig
[sp?], Islay.”
