This is a redigitization of Track 2 of the tape, inasmuch as the first attempt was done at too low a level. Tape was played at double speed (3.75 ips) on the TEAC X-1000R. The headphone jack was used for the output. A second splitter was plugged into the left channel of the first splitter, and the two mono signals were patched into the UFO202 device, which was connected via a USB cable to the iMac running Audacity. Subsequently, JJT: 1) halved the "speed" of the file, 2) deleted a silence of 13.5 minutes that intervened between the two parts of the interview, 3) deleted a number of extremely loud spikes and 4) considerably lowered the gain level of spikes that had signal under them. |
