Collection Descriptive Notes | At some unknown date (probably 1964) Norman McQuown dubbed this selection of thirteen linguistic interviews drawn from field recordings he (and an unnamed interviewer) had made in the Department of Huehuetenango in Guatemala. (According to his index, dated 7 October 1984 (q.v.), these languages are called Kanhobal, Mam, Jacaltec, Chuj and Solomec. This record, however, conforms to Ethnologue's nomenclature: "Eastern Jacaltec", Eastern Kanjobal", Mam and "San Sebastian Coatán". |
Collection Technical Notes | Tapes are the copies McQuown prepared in 1964 apparently for the purpose of facilitating comparisons among these languages. Note: JJT has arbitrarily decided to use "jac" as the ad hoc language code for the WAVE files. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s. |
