Tzotzil: Zinacantan recordings (1961)

Collection Descriptive Notes
With one exception, two researchers (Nicholas A. Hopkins and Andrés Medina), working separately, produced three sets of recordings from the municipio of Zinacantan in 1961. In the first two sets each one read from the standard Spanish vocabulary list, eliciting the Tzotzil equivalents from native speakers (all male). In the third set Hopkins administered Thematic Apperception Tests ("T.A.T."s) to a number of male consultants. (Note: The dialect specified here is "Tzotzil central".)
Collection Technical Notes
Tapes are both original field recordings and copies of originals. Subsequently to the archiving of the tapes, N.A. McQuown renumbered the tapes using Roman numerals. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
