The Chiapas Project; Tzeltal: Bachajon field recordings (G.E. Williams, 1961)

Collection Descriptive Notes
Gerald Williams reads the Spanish words/expressions from the standard list, and the native speakers (male and female) supply the Tzeltal equivalents.) On the last interviews Williams appears to supervise another interviewer--a native speaker of Spanish (Carlos Robles?). (The dialect specified here is "Tzeltal norteño".)
Collection Technical Notes
Tapes are probably the original live recordings. (Note: "WMS" stands for Williams.) Norman McQuown, in rearranging the Bachajon tapes, assigned the Roman numerals "III" and "IV" to these tapes. But JJT switched the numbers around to restore the original chronological sequence. (The codes for the WAVE files follow the Roman numerals; i.e., "3" and "4"). In 1976 Franklin McCabe Lee tight-wound these tapes to improve their preservation. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
