In a variation, he has some native speakers supply the Spanish for the Tzeltal. (The variety of Tzeltal heard here is specified as "Tzeltal sureño".) |
| Collection Technical Notes | Tapes form a subset of the original field recordings made in the comunidad of Aguacatenango, Chiapas State, Mexico. (On Tape XXXIII a recording from Huistan is also heard). (In this series the interviewer recorded over previously used tapes.) Norman McQuown assigned to these tapes the Roman numerals "XXIII" through "XXXIII". The codes for the WAVE files (in the form of Arabic numerals) correspond to the Roman ones; i.e., "23", "24", etc. In 1976 Franklin McCabe Lee tight-wound these tapes in order to preserve them. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s. |
