Dudley Peck presided over these recordings by former brujo Eleuterio Gomez as he recites witchcraft formulas and supplies narratives on the subject. The venue is Cajolá, a municipio in the Quetzaltenago Department of Guatemala. Page numbers on some of the boxes appear to indicate that Gómez is reading from a published text. |
| Collection Technical Notes | These masters are the seven original field recordings done on three-inch reels (and stored in an 11-inch box). The numbering of the tapes from "11" to "17" is apparently meant to continue the series of ten tapes catalogued here with the ID# 4456. Note that the penciled notations appear to be those of Norman McQuown, who numbered the tapes 1-7 when he assigned the shelf codes. The backs of the boxes are now scanned. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s. |
