Nahuat (Pipil): Field recordings from El Salvador (1978)

Languages:
Collection Descriptive Notes
These field recordings made in El Salvador in summer 1978 fall into two categories: 1) linguistic interviews recorded in Nahuizalco and Santo Domingo de Guzmán and 2) a dance perfomed in San Domingo de Guzmán by "historiantes" to the accompaniment of fife and drum.
Collection Technical Notes
Tapes are dubs made from three C-90 cassettes (the original field recordings?) lent to the LLA by Norman McQuown in 1978. (McQuown was in El Salvador in 1978, but his precise relation to these recordings is unknown.) WAVE files are converted to MP3s.
