Collection Descriptive Notes | In December 1965, Julian Pitt-Rivers, speaking only in Spanish, gathers anthropological data from a number of natives (male and female) of the region. They also speak only in Spanish. He follows up these recordings with "field notes" (i.e., a summary of his findings), which he dictates into a tape recorder. |
Collection Technical Notes | Tapes are the original field recordings made by Julian Pitt-Rivers in the coastal town of Pinotepa Nacional (Oaxaca State). It is not clear why this tape was originally listed under "Mixtec". Note: The tape called "Pinotepa 1" actually follows 2 & 3 chronologically. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s. |
