Collection Descriptive Notes | Andrade, speaking Spanish: 1) evokes vocabulary items from the native speaker (male) and 2) records fluent texts spoken by the consultant. The locale is Cobán, "municipio y cabecera departamental de Alta Verapaz" in Guatemala. According to Ethnologue, the preferred spelling of the language is now "Q’eqchi’ ". |
Collection Technical Notes | Discs are the original field recordings cut in Guatemala c. 1935. In 1979 Donald H. Ledin dubbed the discs onto tape. (Note: It was determined that Ledin's dubs--done on a professional deck--were to be preferred for digitizing that playing on the DMA's turntable.) WAVE files are now converted to MP3s. |
