Collection Descriptive Notes
A man speaking French introduces the excerpts he took from field recordings made in October 1972 in Afghanistan. Several men from various settlements in the northeast of the country are interviewed (with Dari being used as the language of interview). Among tne venues visited by the researchers one is identified as the "Parun Valley". (The dialect of this area, Prasuni, serves here as the search term for "Nuristani".) It is not clear what relation the compiler of these tapes has to the interviewer.
Collection Technical Notes
Tapes--on a four-inch, a five-inch and a three-inch reel--are apparently specially excerpted field recordings (possibly made at the behest of Eric Hamp, who donated the tapes to the LLA in Sept. 1973.) The three reels, in boxes, are now contained in an 11-inch box. The WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
