Collection Descriptive Notes:
Michael Silverstein interviews several native speakers (male and female) on the Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon in the period 1967-74.
Collection Technical Notes:
In 2002 each field tape was backed up on two sets of digital audio tapes (DATs) by Brian Horne, graduate student. Four of the tapes consisted of 0.5 mil stock (=1200 ft.) and were run at 15/16 ips, yielding a maximum of four hours of recording per side. [to be expanded: there appears to be a difference between the two series of DATs--one made from the eight-hour tapes and ???] Mr. Silverstein has a full set of CDs of these recordings and retains the originals, which were recorded on a portable Uher tape recorder at 15/16 ips. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
