Collection Descriptive Notes | Pitt-Rivers and an unnamed female collaborator elicit life stories and other narratives from Chiapanecos (male and female) in the municipio of Ocosingo (Chiapas State, Mexico). |
Collection Technical Notes | Tapes in this collection are divided into two sets: 1) The first six original field recordings on three-inch reels and 2) a dub from all six made in the Old Lab in 1962. The recordings, in turn, constitute a subset of the the ten recorded in Ocosingo by Pitt-Rivers in 1960. Note: The dates entered on the back of the boxes are in European style; i.e., day-month-year. Here they are converted to American style. Also note: The string "tzh" in these codes indicates that Ocosingo is in the Tzeltal-speaking area. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s. |
