Collection Descriptive Notes | Two native consultants (male) supply the Tzeltal tokens for the ¡Hablemos en Tzeltal! language course, after Norman McQuown reads the Spanish words and phrases. The course is based on a book of the same title by Carlos Antonio Castro G. (Instituto Nacional Indigenista, San Cristobal Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico). |
Collection Technical Notes | Tapes are the original eleven field recordings made in 1957, which form a subset of all 14 from Oxchuc. McQuown eventually numbered all the tapes pertaining to this particular locale using Roman numerals. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s. |
