Collection Descriptive Notes
Native speaker and anthropologist Archie Phinney recites the folk tale at an unknown date and location. (He died in 1949.)
Collection Technical Notes
Phonograph record is a commercially pressed disc on the “Victor Special Record” label, issued by the Victor Talking Machine Co., Camden, NJ, No. Bve 51252-2. Note: No speed was indicated on the disc, so it was just assumed to be 78 rpm. However, the speaker's voice sounds unnaturally high-pitched. USE THE EDITED VERSION of the WAVE file for what seems to be his natural voice. WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
