Collection Descriptive Notes
De Reuse interviews two native (male)Lakota speakers at the University of Chicago Language Laboratory for the Linguistics Field Methods course he taught in Spring Quarter, 1988. De Reuse used this procedure in the class: He records the consultant’s reading of a text; then he plays that recording back phrase-by-phrase on another tape recorder, having the consultant translate or comment on each word or expression.
Collection Technical Notes
Tapes are dubs from a selection of four live cassette recordings De Reuse made during class sessions. The WAVE files are now converted to MP3s.
